But for now I want to discuss, well, me. I am seriously considering taking a class or two while down there. I don't have to, since I'll be withdrawn from school, but since I want a future with Disney this seems like a great opportunity. There are four that really pique my interest:
- The Entertainment Show Production Professional Development Study! "The Entertainment Show Production Professional Development Study offers students majoring in performing arts, theater or show production an opportunity to explore how Walt Disney World Resort develops, implements and maintains their productions. Specific topics include Business Planning & Creative Investigation, Concept Development, Show Development, Production & Opening, and Operations. This program consists of eight sessions lasting two to three hours in length." Except this course is major-specific, and I don't know if a Media Studies concentration counts. Which is too bad, because this class sounds incredibly interesting to me and I would absolutely love the chance to network with the brains behind Disney's incredible Entertainment department.
- Marketing You! "Through participation in this course, students learn how to market their skills of communication, customer service, problem solving, conflict resolution, decision-making, self-management and creative thinking. Key elements include the development of a career focus and a personal marketing plan that encompasses the creation of a cover letter, résumé and networking strategy. The students will also learn interviewing and negotiation techniques." This course sounds both super-useful and really fun. What? I'm a nerd! I was reading the course syllabus and the projects sounded like something I would enjoy!
- Exploring Communication Processes at the Walt Disney World Resort! "Examine how we incorporate our Quality Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency in providing a vast communication network that can respond rapidly to anything, from weather emergencies to disgruntled Guests."
- Exploring Marketing at the Walt Disney World Resort! "Gain a deeper understanding of how we maintain customer loyalty by both staying true to our brand and marketing our new Guest experiences."
What do you guys think? Will you be taking a class down there? Do you have to? Do you want to? Let me know!
And, as always, feel free to formspring me any other questions!

You bum.
I don't get your updates on my blog even though I am subscribed to you.
I JUST SAW YOU GOT ACCEPTED! (And I'm sure this is very old news now.)
BUT CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I WILL SEE YOU HOPEFULLY!
I'll be taking one class (if I get in). I don't get credit for it so I'm not trying to stress myself out while I'm down there. So I'm either going to take (hopefully) Exploring Marketing or Exploring Communications.
I've heard that Exploring Marketing fills up fast though, and I'm an advertising major (that wants to work for Disney) so that's the most relevant class for me.
My back up is Exploring Communication, but we'll see. I have to get accepted first, lol.
I'm thinking of taking one of the Exploration Series classes too. I'll be a graduate, so I won't need the credit either. With how busy we'll be, I don't really want to pay extra $$ for books and spend time doing homework assignments. :) Exploring Marketing sounds like it would be very interesting!
I took Exploring Guest Service. It was great, and I got some contacts of leaders, so it definitely helps. :)
Also through the class, even though my facilitator left, I was passed the information of another facilitator who has been a mentor to me through my whole PI process, making the class I took totally worth it because it gave me a reason to e-mail in the first place!
I'm going to be taking Creativity and Innovations and Experiential Learning for credit yay. If I get accepted of course!
I think i may take one of the exploring classes. maybe the communications one, i know i'll need any extra hours i can get while im there so maybe just one class if its open. anyone know if they do the classes in the summer or just the fall?
I'm definitely doing some Exploration Series classes, but I'm not sure which ones yet. A different one appeals to me everyday. :P
Right now I'm thinking Guest Service, Marketing, or Leadership.
ASHLIE! what the heck. blogger fail. do you use google reader? i find it's easier to keep track of everyone that way. :)
BUT YES WE SHOULD MEET UP IN JUNE!
